After an exciting couple of months watching how The Secret of the Château was doing on various Amazon deals in the US and then UK, this month it’s the turn of The Girl from Ballymor that is now selling at just 99p on Amazon UK.  It’s still my favourite of my novels, so I hope it does well.

Later this month, on the 27th, all my older books will be released as audiobooks. There will be five coming out on the same day, which is really exciting! That will mean all my books are available in all formats. I’ll soon be recording some promotional video clips about the inspiration behind The Emerald Comb, The Pearl Locket, The Daughters of Red Hill Hall, The Girl from Ballymor and The Stationmaster’s Daughter, to celebrate these audiobook publications.

Also this month, I’ll be announcing news of my next novel – the tenth. I can’t wait to share this with everyone! Novel Eleven is also written and with beta readers for a few comments before I send it to my editor. And ideas for more are brewing, of course.

I hope everyone’s found plenty of time to read over recent months. I have – along with writing. And house clearing. We’ve been talking about moving for a couple of years, and are finally taking some steps towards doing it. Which means the loft and the garage that we’ve been ignoring for years all need sorting. Funnily, book eleven starts with a character clearing her attic. She gets on with it a lot faster than I have managed to.

Daughters of Red Hill Hall, Promotion

I am a bit shocked and horrified to discover it is over 3 months since I wrote a blog post, and I am becoming one of those bloggers who has to start every post with an apology that it’s been so long since the last one. So sorry, dear blog followers, I shall try to do better!

So in the last post I was between novels. Since then I have completed two rounds of edits on the ‘Irish covernovel’, which does have a title now but not one I am allowed to share just yet! I’m waiting to hear back from my publisher on the latest edits, and also to hear when it’ll be put up for preorder. I will, of course, announce it here!

And I am now 20,000 words in to the next one, working title ‘Drowned Village’. So there’s been plenty of writing going on in this house, if not any blogging.

And in another snippet of news, my book The Daughters of Red Hill Hall has been included in Amazon’s December monthly deals, so is priced at just 99p for the next 3o days. Go on, treat yourself!

Daughters of Red Hill Hall, good news, Promotion

At last, The Daughters of Red Hill Hall has been published, and is out there in the big wide world! It feels like ages since my last publication – well, it is over a year. Before that I published 6 books in 2 years (including my self-published books for writers). I’m writing more than ever, but full-length novels simply take longer to complete!

Anyway – I am delighted to be able to say this one’s now available, and am looking forward to finding out what people think of it. I will link to related blog posts and reviews on the dedicated page for this novel – click the link at the top of this page.

If you read the book and enjoy it, please do leave a brief review on Amazon. I’d really appreciate it as it does help future sales.

I’ve spent half the day on Twitter and Facebook announcing the publication, and this evening I think I might just have to celebrate with a glass or two of something fizzy (and I don’t mean lemonade!)

Daughters of Red Hill Hall, inspiration

My publisher, Carina UK, are running a historical fiction weekend. As part of this I’ve written about what inspires me when writing the historical parts of my novel, and you can read this on their blog here .

Only a few days to go now till publication of my new book! I can’t wait for it to hit the virtual shelves!

Daughters of Red Hill Hall

coverJust three weeks till publication of my new book, The Daughters of Red Hill Hall! I am very excited about this one and can’t wait to see what people think of it. It’s been on pre-order for a while and doing nicely – this week it’s been up in the top 20 Women’s Historical Fiction chart along with both my other Carina books. Not that I’ve been checking the rankings often, oh no. Very rarely. Ahem.

Anyway – here’s its final cover which I absolutely adore. I sent back the copy edits a couple of days ago, so it’s ready to go. There’s a blog tour being organised for the end of April – I will post links to them all on the book’s page here.

And meanwhile I’ve been getting on with the next novel which is now over 1/3 written. No time to catch my breath!

Daughters of Red Hill Hall, good news

My new book, The Daughters of Red Hill Hall, is now available for preorder from all ebook retailers! It’s been a long time since the last one so I am very excited to have a new book baby almost ready to go out into the world. This is its holding cover, not the final cover, but aholdingcoverctually I really like this atmospheric image.

Here’s the blurb -I hope you like the sound of this!

When Gemma discovers a pair of ancient duelling pistols encrusted with rubies in the basement of the local museum, she is immediately intrigued…

On a fateful night in 1838 two sisters were found shot in the cellars of Red Hill Hall. And when Gemma begins to delve deeper into their history she begins to realise that the secrets of that night are darker than anyone had ever imagined.

As the shocking events of the past begin to unravel, Gemma’s own life starts to fall apart. Loyalties are tested and suddenly it seems as if history is repeating itself, as Gemma learns that female friendships can be deadly…

Daughters of Red Hill Hall, Writing

I finished the first edit of my novel yesterday, and sent it straight off to my eldest son who’s my beta reader. I’m looking forward to hearing what he thinks of it, then I’ve time to make some more changes as necessary before sending it to my editor just after Christmas. Phew! It’ll be lovely to have time to start something new, before I get my editor’s comments on it and have to rewrite the whole thing, ooh-er.

Want to know what its title will be? Not sure if I should reveal that yet…Oh, go on then, you’ve twisted my arm. It’ll be called The Daughters of Red Hill Hall. It’s dual timeline, and both timelines feature the stately home Red Hill Hall, and two girls who are the best of friends at the start of the novel, until… I’ll say no more. Publication will be around April 2016 – will let you know when I have a definite date.

Anyway, after completing the novel and also sending a synopsis for the next one to my editor, I thought I’d have a few days off from writing. But I’ve sat here this evening with itchy fingers, so I wrote a guest blog post for someone else, and then this blog post. A change is as good as a rest, they say, and certainly it’s the case that writing something other than the novel I’ve been working on since the end of April feels refreshing and fun. Counting up, I realise that I’ve only spent 7 months writing this one, which is a lot faster than any previous novel. And in June I hardly wrote anything, so it’s really 6 months work. Not bad going, considering I work full time as well.

It’s good to give yourself a pat on the back now and again. Even if a minute later I’m back to the usual writerly mental state of feeling full of self-doubt and insecurity!
